Dropsafe exhibits at International WorkBoat Show

Dropsafe is proud to be exhibiting alongside commercial mariners from around the world at the International WorkBoat Show, held at the Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, November 30th – December 2nd 2016.  Showcasing and hosting over 10,000 visitors and exhibitors, the International WorkBoat Show is an opportunity for experts across boat building, engineering, manufacturing, oil exploration, port authorities and governmental bodies to share knowledge, build productive commercial relationships and uphold industry standards.

This has been a challenging year for many with both economic and political issues arising that have clouded economic forecasts and led to uncertainty across the sector. Dropsafe recognises the need to ensure that safety remains a priority, even when faced with numerous external pressures and concerns. The conference itself will discuss Safety in the Down Market in an insightful and valuable session covering how companies need to understand the impact of market shifts on safety performance.

Dropped Objects in the Marine Industry

Dropped objects remain a widespread safety concern in the marine industry and Dropsafe continues to support initiatives such as DROPS and IMCA’s guidelines, by innovating to address the ongoing risks posed by this problem.

In 2014, the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), recorded a total of 424 Lost Time Injuries (LTIs). The largest category was ‘struck by moving or falling objects’ which contained 110 LTIs, or 26% of reported cases – an increase on the previous year. To raise awareness, IMCA have created lifting guidelines based on their statistics from 264 reporting companies and a total of 798 million man hours.

Dropsafe Nets

Dropsafe Nets were developed in a direct response to the issue of dropped objects. These patented safety devices securely enclose and tether overhead fixtures to prevent dropped and falling objects. Simple and effective, Dropsafe Nets are an instant safety solution available for a variety of fixture types.

Dropsafe will be at Booth 137 demonstrating and showcasing their safety innovations, products and accessories.
